HIGHER showcased at the PEPR Cloud Synergy Forum in France

On 1 October 2026, Olivier Deprez from SiPearl represented the HIGHER project at the PEPR Cloud Synergy Forum, held at CEA Pays de la Loire in Bouguenais, France. The event brought together researchers, industry representatives and European cloud projects to explore the development of sovereign, intelligent and future-ready cloud and edge infrastructures.

Olivier contributed to a session focused on European Cloud projects, presenting “HIGHER: Building Europe’s First Open-Standard Cloud and Edge Server Platform with Arm and RISC-V Processors.”

His presentation highlighted HIGHER’s approach to developing a European, open and standards-based cloud and edge server platform, bringing together European processor technologies, open standards and open-source software. A key element of the project is the integration of SiPearl’s Arm-based Rhea2 processor technology with RISC-V technologies, within a modular architecture aligned with Open Compute Project (OCP) standards.

Olivier also presented early integration results, demonstrating progress towards bringing these different technologies together into a practical cloud and edge computing platform.

The PEPR Cloud Synergy Forum provided an important opportunity to connect HIGHER with the wider European research and innovation ecosystem, and particularly with France’s growing community working on sovereign cloud and cloud-edge technologies. Discussions with other European projects also highlighted opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange beyond individual project boundaries.

Through its participation, HIGHER continues to contribute to the wider European effort to develop open, interoperable and sovereign computing infrastructure, reducing dependence on proprietary technologies while strengthening Europe’s capabilities in cloud and edge computing.
