We’re proud to spotlight Semidynamics, a key member of our consortium and a driving force in Europe’s semiconductor innovation landscape. Founded in Barcelona in 2016, Semidynamics is a European provider of RISC-V IP cores, specializing in high-bandwidth, high-performance designs with Vector and Tensor Units tailored for cutting-edge AI and machine learning applications. With a team backed by over 15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, Semidynamics brings deep expertise in everything from architecture specification to final verification. They also offer staff augmentation services, both on-site and remotely, making them a flexible and valuable partner for complex hardware development projects.
Role in the Project
Within our consortium, Semidynamics takes a leading role in developing the EPAC/EUPILOT-based Processor Module. This module is being designed to comply with the latest Open Compute Platform (OCP) standards, including M-FLW, M-DNO, and OAI, and will feature advanced interconnectivity with:
- Up to 4 interconnected processor chips
- LPDDR4 support
- M-XIO connectors for PCIe modules
- A processor socket compatible with EPAC, EUPILOT, and future European chips
Leveraging the groundwork laid by the HIGHER project, Semidynamics will reuse the DC-SCM board (Secure Control Module) along with the Host Performance Module (HPM) design, aligning with future OCP-compatible platforms powered by Semidynamics IP. This strategic reuse not only accelerates development but also ensures compatibility and modularity across open compute infrastructure. At least 10 processor modules will be manufactured and assembled, depending on the final production costs, a major milestone in driving forward Europe’s processor independence. Semidynamics also plays an active role in architecture and verification, further strengthening the project’s foundation in processor innovation. Semidynamics Expertise Includes:
- High-bandwidth microarchitectures
- Vector microarchitectures
- HPC computing
- Coherency core and cache architecture
- High-performance SoC design
They are also a proud participant in the European Processor Initiative (EPI), reinforcing their commitment to advancing Europe’s strategic autonomy in processor technologies.
